Petites Histoires
Marie Leduc
Something a little lighter today….
Agnes Martin (1912-2004) is one of the many artists who made wonderful contributions to modern and contemporary art but, like so many female artists, was often overshadowed by the attention given to her male peers. This charming little animation tells her story.
Created by Sophie Caron, the animation is part of a series on female artists called Petites histoires de grande artistes (Little stories about great artists). The videos provide brief summaries of the artists’ lives and achievements.
The videos are hosted by AWARE (Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions) a bi-lingual website dedicated to documenting the lives and work of women artists. Through essays, reviews, podcasts, and videos such as this one, the site is gradually building a larger narrative about women artists, one little story at a time.
Enjoy!
