Kapwani Kiwanga
A Rising Contemporary Art Star
It is not often that Canada gets to brag about one of its star artists. Earlier this year, Kapwani Kiwanga (b. 1978, Hamilton, Ontario) was named as the next artist to represent Canada at the Venice Biennale. But, Kiwanga is hardly a household name in in Canada. She grew up in Canada and studied anthropology and religious studies at McGill University in Montreal, but then moved to Europe where she has lived ever since.
